Ellicott City – In broad support for his experience, integrity, and judicial temperament, Howard County Circuit Court Judge John Kuchno has received overwhelming bi-partisan endorsements from current and former Democrat and Republican elected officials. He has also received support and backing from diverse groups such as the Maryland State Bar Association, AFL-CIO, and the Indian Origin Network of Howard County.
Following a rigorous vetting and evaluation of his background and experience, Judge Kuchno was appointed by Governor Larry Hogan, who is strongly committing his support. Governor Hogan said, “Judge John Kuchno is a man of integrity and honor. I appointed Judge Kuchno because he is the most capable and qualified person for the job and has an outstanding combination of public and private legal experience. I urge you to keep Judge John Kuchno on the bench.”
Key Democrats backing Judge Kuchno include Attorney General Brian Frosh, Senator Guy Guzzone, Delegate Terri Hill, Clerk of Court Wayne Robey, Councilwoman Deb Jung, Councilman Opel Jones, former Attorney General Doug Gansler, former County Executive Liz Bobo, and former Judge Donna Hill Staton.
In endorsing Kuchno, Frosh said, “I worked with Judge John Kuchno in the Attorney General’s Office where he did outstanding work on important cases. He is an excellent attorney. He has brought to the bench his fairness, humility and common sense. I enthusiastically endorse him to continue serving on the Howard County Circuit Court.”
Long-time elected official and civic leader Liz Bobo added, “Now more than ever we need a judge in our Circuit Court who has demonstrated an understanding of and commitment to social, economic, and environmental justice. That person is incumbent Circuit Court Judge John Kuchno.”
Key Republicans endorsing Judge Kuchno include Governor Larry Hogan, Delegate Trent Kittleman, Councilman David Yungmann, former County Executive Allan Kittleman, former Senator Gail Bates, and former Delegate Robert Flanagan.
Voters in Howard County will be mailed ballots for the Primary Election. The return date for ballots is June 2nd.
Judge John Kuchno is a graduate of University of Maryland and has a background in journalism and law. He has extensive legal experience in the public and private sector, including working as lead counsel in high profile cases facing the state of Maryland. A long-time resident of Howard County, he is married to Vicki for 35 years and has two children.
